On 4th January 2016 – the Finance recruitment team was, just Ryan, who has led and managed teams of Clerical, Part-Qualified and Qualified finance recruiters for several years. Covering recruitment of all finance roles across all locations from Payroll to Heads of Finance was...a busy time! Ryan established PSL relationships across a mix of Blue Chip and SME businesses.
Fortunately, help was on the way. The following month, Distinct’s Director, Arran Jaiswal, was able to join the team and help deal with the busy workload. Arran joined Distinct from another recruitment business, where he was also a Director and grew a successful finance brand across many areas of the Midlands. Arran focused his efforts on senior relationships and appointments across the Midlands.
As the Distinct brand grew, the need for a dedicated temp recruiter continued to build. Fortunately, through sheer luck many years ago and a random house share, Ryan first met Michelle – aka The Vegan. Michelle joined us in August 2016 and has amongst many Vegan stories, developed our interim offering brilliantly. Michelle has close to 10 years-experience specialising in interim finance recruitment in the East Midlands. To put it simply, she knows pretty much all there is to know about interim finance recruitment in the East Midlands.
In January 2017, we were joined by a former colleague from our old business in Ian Hallam. Ian specialises in finance recruitment between £20,000-£50,000 and with 7 years-worth of experience in this area, adds a wealth of knowledge to the team. Ian and Ryan share the Part-Qual & Qualified finance market at Distinct – so at this level, whether you’re recruiting or looking for a new job, you have two heads rather than one looking after you!
Fast forward to August 2017 and Distinct pulled off a great coup to secure Alex Alcock to join the team. Alex was the go-to man in the senior finance market in the Midlands and came to Distinct to grow the brand, the team and take us to new heights. We think the team growth shows how successful this has been. Alex is tasked with growing our brand across new regions, areas and our event offering. Keep an eye on the events scene and you’ll see some of his ideas coming very soon.
In September 2017, one of our rising stars joined the business – Imogen has since truly taken the market by storm and has an impressive track record placing clerical finance staff in Nottingham and Leicester at both blue chips and SMEs. Imogen now has over 2 years’ experience in this area and specialises in recruiting on both an interim and permanent basis. She’s also keenly taken on the role as the team and wider company social rep!
In March 2018, Michelle’s partner in crime joined the finance recruitment team. Claire (AKA Fletch) came armed with 20 years recruitment experience. Michelle and Claire handle all interim finance recruitment in Nottingham and Derby upwards of £250 per day, or £50,000. Claire and Michelle also share their market together, again two heads helping rather than one. Both Michelle and Claire juggle a hectic family life at home, and a hectic time at work, therefore both work 4 days a week with each other covering their day off.
The growth hasn’t slowed in 2019 and the year kicked off with a bang when Louise Carling joined in January. Louise added another 15 years recruitment expertise to the team and is one of our specialists in senior finance recruitment on a permanent basis working closely with Alex and Aynsley. Louise has worked alongside most of the team for many years and has a deep understanding of the local market both a technical finance perspective, as well as incredible knowledge of her client’s organisations.
At Distinct, many of our consultants operate in fantastic duos and Imogen’s right-hand woman joined in March. Tia has over 4 years finance recruitment experience and specialises in clerical finance recruitment in Derbyshire and Leicestershire, another one of our fantastic rising stars at Distinct. Tia is one of our resident fitness enthusiasts, so if you’re looking for tips she’s the go-to person! Maybe not restaurant tips though...
Bringing to the team another 14 years recruitment experience comes Aynsley Buggy. A seasoned operator in the East Midlands finance network, Aynsley joins our senior finance recruitment team working alongside Alex and Louise. Aynsley, similarly to many other members of the team has been there and done it in recruitment for many years and prides himself on the advice he can give based on these years of knowledge. Aynsley looks after both interim and permanent finance recruitment.
Elliot joins us to work on our Part-Qualified Finance Recruitment offering. Elliot is an experienced Accountant himself having worked for Boots and Experian before making the move into a career within recruitment. Elliot has sat in your shoes and understands the challenges in roles, career progression opportunities and will be a great person to advise and support. He’s a keen Forest fan so maybe in a better mood depending on results at the City Ground.
