Charl was with us when we opened the doors at Distinct in 2016 and was joined the following January by Becky. They have built an extensive network of candidates and clients, many of whom work with them on an exclusive basis. In September 2019, we were delighted to welcome Sam to the HR team.

From our HQ in Nottingham, the team have recruited for roles across the UK, from entry to exec level. Whilst the majority of the positions recruited by the HR team are in the East Midlands, we have also had great success recruiting for roles in London, Cornwall, Scotland, Wales, North East, North West and Yorkshire.

Back in 2015, I was still working in HR but knew I wanted to do something a little different. So, when James approached me to help set up the HR division, I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity. We sat in Café Nero in Bridgford and chatted everything through. It felt really exciting to be involved in something new, fresh and entrepreneurial and it’s been amazing to be part of Distinct from the beginning.


Before joining Distinct, I worked in the majority of HR specialisms; including talent, business partnering, recruitment, L&D and transformational change programmes. Given my background in the sector I am confident with my ability to understand your specific requirements.

One of the biggest draws for me was the opportunity to do a job that I love in an environment that allows you to keep things simple. HR is such a people centric discipline, and my inquisitive mind is always interested to see how people operate and behave, what drives them to succeed and how to get the best out of them.

Having watched Distinct being set up from the side-lines in their first year of trading, I was excited by the brand and reputation they had built in such a short space of time. After 6 years in recruitment, I was ready for a new challenge and Distinct presented itself as the perfect opportunity.
