Back in 2015, I was still working in HR but knew I wanted to do something a little different. So, when James approached me to help set up the HR division, I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity. We sat in Café Nero in Bridgford and chatted everything through. It felt really exciting to be involved in something new, fresh and entrepreneurial and it’s been amazing to be part of Distinct from the beginning.
Before joining Distinct, I worked in the majority of HR specialisms; including talent, business partnering, recruitment, L&D and transformational change programmes. Given my background in the sector I am confident with my ability to understand your specific requirements.
One of the biggest draws for me was the opportunity to do a job that I love in an environment that allows you to keep things simple. HR is such a people centric discipline, and my inquisitive mind is always interested to see how people operate and behave, what drives them to succeed and how to get the best out of them.
Having watched Distinct being set up from the side-lines in their first year of trading, I was excited by the brand and reputation they had built in such a short space of time. After 6 years in recruitment, I was ready for a new challenge and Distinct presented itself as the perfect opportunity.
I don't want to work for the biggest or most well-known recruitment business, I want to work for the business that is known for being the best at what it does. Distinct have a genuine team player culture which really appeals to my nature, and their focus on quality of service and relationships is second to none.
Before starting at Distinct, I was covering mid to senior HR appointments across Northamptonshire. The set-up here allows me to offer more of a complete service to candidates with less of a geographical restriction and the opportunity to work with a greater diversity of clients.
Having worked in recruitment previously, I became more and more aware of the presence Distinct was making in the market. I got a good feeling for the way that they did things, and it was something I wanted to be a part of. After a few chats with Arran, Calds and a few of the team, they offered me the position, and I was absolutely thrilled!
I’ve now been working in the Office Support team for just over a year and a half, covering all positions in Derby. I’ve recently started taking on junior HR roles up to £25k across Nottingham and Derby as well, which has been great to get involved in. I work on both temp and perm roles and just love the variety it gives me, talking to different people about their situations and how I can help is what keeps me focused and motivated.
