The IT & Tech division is headed up by Rachel, who has over a decade of experience in IT recruitment across the East Midlands. Rachel recruits for both contract and permanent roles, spanning the entire software development lifecycle, as well as application support, security and infrastructure.

Our core focus is on the East Midlands; however we also have the flexibility to recruit across the UK should we need to.

I believe the IT world has come a long way in the last decade. IT is now the force that drives a lot of core business decisions and as the industry has evolved, so have the roles. BI is now Data Science, software development is now software engineering, and information security is the number one thing that keeps IT Directors up at night!

Over the past couple of years, we have built up a good base of local clients and started making a name for ourselves in the local tech community. We sponsor and attend local tech events, including my recent partnership with DDD East Midlands; and have become a trusted recruitment partner to local blue chips, SME’s and start-ups alike.

I have specialised in contract recruitment locally for the majority of my career, meaning my network of IT contractors across the East Midlands is unmatched and I only work with fully referenced local contractors that you can rely on. With more and more roles coming our way, I can foresee the Distinct IT & Tech team growing significantly over the next few years to keep up with demand!

I had worked for large, corporate organisations for over ten years and I realised that I wanted the opportunity to shape my own career and try out new ideas. Working at Distinct offers me that and so much more. When Distinct offered me an opportunity to set up an IT contract desk in my own way with their full support, I jumped at it and haven’t looked back.

Nowadays, every recruitment agency is trying to get away from the salesy and untrustworthy image that our industry is tarred with. So when I joined Distinct on a promise that they “really are different” I was sceptical. Within a few months of joining I was blown away because they actually lived up to that promise. We are open & honest, treat people as we hope to be treated and are all working towards the same goal of delivering great service in our respective markets.

After spending a year setting up the contract desk, I was asked to take on more responsibility and start recruiting the permanent roles as well. It’s a fresh & exciting challenge for me and I love being able to consult with both clients and candidates & service all of their needs.
