1st/2nd Line Support | Nottingham | £20,000 - £25,000 per annum
You’ve been on the service desk for a while, you know what you’re doing. You’re pretty good at supporting Microsoft products… but you need a change. You’re a number where you are now, one of a big team. You aren’t valued, nobody listens to you & there’s no sign of progression any time soon.
Wouldn’t it be great if you had the opportunity to work in a smaller team where you can add more value. Somewhere you can get out & about a bit, to actually fix things in person instead of just sitting on the service desk day in, day out doing the same thing over & over.
This is the job you’ve been waiting for.
You’ll be joining a service desk of 6 who support around 600 users across 30 sites. Their head office is here in Nottingham, where you’ll be based, but they have sites all over the UK. Unlike a lot of busy service desks there’s no on call & no weekends or evening work so you’ll have your evenings & weekends to yourself – when you leave the office at 5.30PM, you don’t have to think about work again ‘til you start at 9AM the next day!
The bulk of the work will be remote support – taking calls & raising tickets for 1st and 2nd line fixes, performing password resets, setting up new starters & mailboxes, printer issues, software redeployments etc. in a largely Microsoft-based environment. They also have some bespoke internal software that you’ll be supporting which you can become a real expert in.
That said, a really unique feature of this service desk is that they rotate their hardware support so you’ll be field-based once a month, getting out & visiting the different medical practices that are part of the group. All your travel expenses will be paid for, but you’ll need to have your own car & be able to drive.
Culturally they’re truly a lovely business to work for – because they’re a healthcare provider the bulk of the users are nurses and doctors who really appreciate the help you’re offering. And it’s rewarding supporting them because you know that the work you’re doing is helping to change their patient’s lives. Plus, they really look after & value their staff, offering a range of flexible benefits.
