Cloud Infrastructure Engineer | £45,000 - £55,000 per annum + bonus + benefits | North Nottinghamshire
So – you’ve been a Cloud Engineer for a few years & you’ve been working on a large AWS or Azure migration, but you have no autonomy…..you’re just a cog in a big wheel. You are part of a successful team but your personal contributions aren’t really recognised?
Don’t you think it’s time you made a move into a smaller organisation where you are respected as the subject matter expert and you can actually lead the cloud migration, putting your skills & knowledge to good use?
This is your opportunity to lead the migration of an entire company’s infrastructure services into the cloud - from scratch. This isn’t the kind of opportunity that comes along very often, and as it’s such an important part of their IT strategy you’ll need to have worked on a cloud migration before (AWS, Azure or similar), so you’ll already have an idea of what does and doesn’t work!
This small platform team are currently supporting 2 data centres and have been getting ready for a move to the cloud for a couple of years. They’re now at that exciting point where they’re ready to take the plunge; but need 2 senior engineers to come on board and spearhead the migration.
As you’ve been working with cloud tech for a while, you’re probably already a bit of a cloud enthusiast and a real advocate for AWS or Azure or something similar. You’re always learning & keen to put what you’re learning to good use – and in this role, you actually can.
You’ll be joining a small, dedicated & hardworking team of engineers as their cloud subject matter expert and will be treated accordingly. Your ideas will be listened to, so you’ll be expected to execute big picture thinking, understanding how this migration is going to benefit and drive the business for years to come, and to make decisions accordingly. Let’s be honest, as a skilled cloud engineer you’ll naturally be a problem solver, and in this role you’ll have the autonomy to exercise your problem solving skills on a daily basis – all whilst being surrounded by like-minded engineers who are all about that fine balance between best practice and actually getting things done.
There’s no line management involved in this role, so you can just focus on getting this migration right. It’s a big job with a lot of eyes on it, so your hard work & skills certainly won’t be overlooked by the wider business here! The IT division has been steadily growing for a number of years & don’t plan to stop any time soon, meaning once the migration is complete your role could evolve into anything you want it to – you could manage a team, specialise in architecture or security (for example), or stay in a role like this where you’re across everything, putting all of your experience to good use. The world is your oyster.
And in return for your hard work? Well, you’ll receive a competitive salary & enviable bonus & benefits package. You will work autonomously so you decide what days you need to work at home and what days you need to be in the office. And the office itself is newly refurbished and absolutely stunning so will be a welcome escape from your home office!
