Thanks for taking the time to check out this advert, the official title for the role is Senior Financial Accountant, however, the job role itself lends itself more to a Finance Manager role hence the advert name. For me, normally, a Financial Accountant role has the technical side you would expect, and not so much of the commercial, partnering side, this role absolutely has that. 

The company, are based about 5 mins walk from the Harrow & Wealdstone tube stop and is easy to access on the Bakerloo line - that is of course unless you're a northerner like myself who isn't overly great with tube directions. 

So, who is the client, and what are they looking for?

They're a big company, part of a massive group, but, this role plays a pivotal part in an SME business in the group. They operate as their own, autonomous business but have the wider support of the bigger group. Their staff turnover is low, mainly down to how well they treat people and some of the fantastic perks they offer. If you're a foodie, some of the perks will really appeal. If you're not a foodie, things like the pension scheme and some flex on working hours may attract you. In terms of what they're looking for, they have a great ledger and PQ team, but, they need someone to train, develop, mentor and challenge them. So, if you enjoy the management side of finance this could well appeal to you. Initially you'll be managing 6 people, but, it's not essential to have managed lots of people before, ideally though, you will have managed small teams previously. The finance function is really appreciated in the business, they know their importance, this means proper business partnering can happen. It's not essential to have been a Business Partner before, but, the natural communication skills are absolutely vital. If you're a people person, this role could be a great fit. 

If you're still studying, that's great, full study support will absolutely be provided, you'll receive both the financial and moral support you need to achieve your goals. 

The Role:

  • Management and development of a small team of 6 (mainly ledger and PQ team members)
  • Provision of business partnering support to stakeholders across the business
  • Review and improve existing financial processes and systems
  • Support to wider group functions on areas such as tax
  • Cash flow forecasting and associated reporting / analysis
  • Month end balance sheet reporting and management
  • Development of internal controls 
  • Forecasting and analysis on performance vs expected results
  • Variance analysis and project accounting


  • Strong Team Management Experience
  • Strong Communication Skills.
