You probably read job adverts sometimes which go on about things like ‘You must be ambitious’ or ‘They want someone ready for the next step up in 2-3 years’ and take a big sigh.
It’s not what you want.
You love being an FC. This is your level. It’s what you know and love. You are ambitious, but the ambition is to do a great job, not to get a fancy title.
You love people. Developing them. Training them. Helping them achieve their goals. You also love knowing exactly what’s happening in the business, not just in one little area of the P&L but the whole thing: AP, AR, Management Accounts, Stat Accounts, Analysis and the list goes on. It’s the variety which gets you going.
If this sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you. We’re recruiting for an SME in the retail / manufacturing sector close to Bingham, looking for an FC, managing a team of 9 reporting to the FD.
The advert says up to £60k, in all honesty, the client wants to aim more at the 50-55k mark, but, could stretch for the perfect candidate.
I’ll not bore you here with the same old list of bullet points. They are on the job spec which I can provide on request. It’s what I’d call a proper, traditional FC job. All round management of financial and management accounts as well as analysis and leading transactional processes. The FD has done this role previously before being promoted, so there are good systems in place too and the knowledge is in the business.
Proven experience as an FC managing a similar sized team
