Global Category Manager
Are you keen to be part of a newly created strategic procurement team, and make a name for yourself?
A global manufacturer is creating a central strategic procurement function and is now looking for a Global Category Manager.
The aim is to have a more strategic focus on common suppliers / materials across global sites. Historically, spend has been managed at local level.
This will still be the case for unique, business unit specific suppliers. You’ll be stepping in to identify and drive procurement strategy across common materials / products across multiples.
Working across a matrix-structured organisation, you’ll be supporting an agenda that drives joined up thinking.
This is balance between hands on procurement and strategy, so you can expect to be driving and actioning procurement activity including category / spend analysis, supplier engagement, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
Internally, you’ll be managing stakeholders to educate and develop their procurement capabilities, acting as a procurement business partner.
There are no direct reports, however you’ll have dotted line procurement accountability for multiple sites and stakeholders.
Office requirements are 2/3 days per week in the East Midlands based HQ, with the rest spent travelling between European sites / working from home – you manage your own diary.
So who are you?
Experience of global category in a commodity-driven manufacturing environment is essential, as you’ll be driving this in the business.
German language skills are a huge benefit - although business language is English, many of your main stakeholders will be based in Germany
CIPS / MCIPS is bonus.
