Are you HR Manager of a small business or Senior HR Advisor looking to take ownership and lead the HR function of an ambitious business? With aspirations to become an employer of choice, the HR Manager will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the HR function and the employee offering.
Managing a small team and supporting a workforce of just over 100 employees, the HR Manager will provide a comprehensive operational HR service whilst working towards the longer-term strategic objectives. The HR Manager will enjoy a generalist remit; with the expectation that they will oversee matters of employee relations, performance and capability, training, reward and internal communications. The postholder will be the go-to contact for managers on employee queries and will prioritise driving an uplift in management capability, as well as utilising expert employment law knowledge to de-risk the business where appropriate.
The HR Manager will oversee the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through performance and talent management to leavers. Talent attraction strategies may vary but could include attending careers or graduate fairs, advertising or working with agency suppliers. As the business grows, the people will need to grow with it so there will be a need to deploy a structured learning and development offering which will cover essential learning and management and leadership. Ensuring the appraisal system is well managed and performance is managed appropriately will allow the business to effectively coordinate learning and build a culture of success through succession planning.
The HR Manager will, at most basic and reactive level, oversee all employee relations matters, as well as completing a periodic review of policies and processes to ensure appropriate for the business but also to respond to changes in legislation. Reporting on HR metrics for the board will also be required.
