Interim Head of HR/ HR Lead
Portsmouth area
c£65,000/ day rate

This opportunity is one of those rare chances to get involved with a business that is going through a significant period of transformation and investment and shape the future organisation. Under new ownership, and with a new vision, the business requires a commercial HR professional to build a workforce roadmap that will enable them to reach their lofty goals.
As you might expect when coming into a business going through a rebuild, the brief can be distilled down to “what do we have now, what do we need and how do we bridge the gap?” With retention of an existing workforce key to meeting the ongoing demands of the business, this isn’t a start-up environment but is more akin to a scale up operation that needs to be reorganised and recalibrated to fit the vision of the future business.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Operations Director, the key deliverables for the interim HR Lead will be to perform a talent & competency review of the existing business, support the design/ tweaking of functional structures and support the recruitment of key management positions. Part of the recruitment agenda will be to scope out the new HR structure and recruit into the new positions – this does mean that the postholder will be required to support the business at an operational level, alongside the strategic initiatives.
Aside from the wholesome change and transformation initiatives, the postholder will be expected to provide some direction on a training strategy, reward and benefits, and well-being and engagement.
What do we need?
We’re looking for a strategically minded individual with a track record of delivering wholesome change, whilst also being comfortable to get involved at an operational level. Experience in an FMCG or manufacturing environment is high on our client’s wish list and competence across all areas of HR (ER, talent, recruitment) is required. You’ll be commercially minded and able to communicate effectively with stakeholders both HR conversant and those less so.
This is a very fluid, fast moving business and while we anticipate the lead HR responsibility being passed on to a newly recruited team along the way, there is certainly an opportunity for the postholder here to make a lasting impression and it is not out of the question that a long-term appointment could be available.
