IT Infrastructure Engineer | 3rd Line Support / Service Desk | Leicester | Up to £35,000 per annum
Are you bored of feeling invisible & fed up with just getting stuck with BAU tasks?
On offer here is the opportunity to work in a small team where you will be a vital part of making big infrastructure decisions for the business. You’ll be the right hand to the Head of IT so he’ll listen to your opinion & guidance on the best solutions to implement. You’ll truly be heard.
Joining a small team of 5 on the service desk you’ll be one of 3 final escalation points supporting 1700 users with 500 VM servers across 3 data centres. On a daily basis you’ll be heavily involved in supporting, maintaining & upgrading the systems, servers & applications used by this fast-growing organisation.
In addition to the day-to-day work on the service desk – maintaining systems, dealing with 3rd party suppliers, resolving tickets, backing up & patching servers etc etc – you’ll be involved heavily in project work. Around 70% of your time will be dedicated to projects & there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into, including a company-wide migration from exchange 2010 to office365, and improving their hybrid storage offering.
This company aren’t afraid of change. They relish it. They have a great brand in their market and are going through a huge period of growth right now, meaning they are investing heavily in their people, systems, assets and buildings, so there will be plenty more projects on the horizon for the next few years at least.
From a tech perspective their infrastructure is built in a hybrid approach using NetApp & VMware which will need upgrading at some point in the near future, but for now you’ll be working with it day in, day out, so you’ll need to be thoroughly experienced in this area.
And what’s it actually like working here? It’s fast paced….But this service desk actually work as a team. There are no “that’s not my job” conversations here, everyone pitches in & helps one another out when they need to. The Head of IT will often answer the phone and deal with a password reset if nobody else is available, it’s just that kind of place. Friendly, happy, respectful and collaborative.
So if you’re looking for an opportunity to have a bigger impact & get involved more in a well-established, growing business whilst doing something you love then don’t delay, apply now for immediate consideration! If you've got an up-to-date CV, just hit apply. If you don't, that's not an issue - just give me a call and I'll answer any questions you have. My number is on my LinkedIn profile (Rachel Watson).
