Are you a Purchasing Manager looking for a role in which you know you’re making a difference?

A business based near Lutterworth is on the looking for a Purchasing Manager to join their growing procurement team.

They’re a product focussed business, and you’ll be owning the procurement activity against your category areas.

Key activities will include sourcing, tendering, negotiating contractual terms, managing supplier performance, and risk management. You’ll be more strategic, and less operational.

Alongside this, you’ll be supporting leading and developing the team, coaching on best practice procurement.

There are 3 key areas you’ll be impacting on:

- Cost savings and avoidance - having historically been very supplier led, there’s opportunity to negotiate better pricing, and move towards long term category management visibility on spend.

- Contractual terms - by negotiating better commercials, you’ll be getting the business in much better shape allowing reinvestment, in particular impacting on payment terms and working capital improvements.

- Supplier performance - you’ll be helping to develop supplier performance metrics, ensuring consistency and helping a shift from reactive to proactive supplier management.

This is definitely a role where you will have an impact, and will know exactly what you’re working towards.

Change won't happen overnight though. There might be frustrations along the way as behaviours and processes slowly change, but the rewards will be worth it.

You’ll be pushed and developed, with opportunity to develop within the team and grow as the procurement function grows.

If you're experienced in category or commodity management ideally within an engineering business, we’d love to hear from you. CIPS is an advantage, but not essential.

Interviews will be done via phone and video call initially.

Salary is up to £55k. Other benefits include 23 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service), healthcare options, and a bonus scheme, and car allowance potential.

To find out more, you can either apply via this advert, or contact Joel at Distinct Recruitment.

We look forward to hearing from you.
