I joined Distinct in the first three months – my background has always been in Finance and James and Arran were providing an opportunity to build a department from nothing and the promise to have Radio 2 on all day.
At Distinct, it’s about developing your strengths and running with it. In our department, we’ve each been allowed to take on responsibility of our own section. We’ve always been supported and developed. I’ve had management training, and for the first time, the Finance section is included in that progression.
Distinct had been trading for about a year when I joined. As the company grew, so did the temp employment side of the business and I have been able to take on the Temp payroll and move that manual process into a digital one, which has been great to take leadership of.
Ros and I were left to plan how we could see everything moving forward and we were able to voice it. The environment that James and Arran have created is un-like anywhere I’ve worked before, they’ve really broken the mould.
My role at Distinct is working within the Accounts team. I look after: credit control, issuing invoices, reconciliations, creating various reports spreadsheets, and other fun finance-based shenanigans.
We all genuinely care about how the company is doing - I don’t think anyone sees this as ‘just another job’. Although we don’t recruit in Finance, we still get just as excited by a new placement being made or when we hear about the future plans for the business!
My role at Distinct is working within the Finance Team as the Compliance Assistant. I’m in charge of all candidate compliance and onboarding of temps. I ensure that all new starters have a smooth experience, when they are working with us, while also remaining legally compliant.
I joined Distinct in January 2021 – I had previously worked as an Accounts Assistant for another recruitment agency, before going on maternity leave in June 2019. Part of this role was to look after candidate compliance, as well as all other aspects of accounting.
Having started out in recruitment, I have always been pretty organised and a stickler for compliance, so for me to become our Office Manager seemed like a match made in heaven!
From ensuring our candidates are compliant to work, through to dealing with 3rd parties re contracts, supporting internal projects and essentially supporting the whole team on daily basis – I do just about everything you can think of! There are so many reasons why I love working here. I truly believe we all care about what we do and that is an amazing culture to be a part of.
I joined Distinct in 2019 to kick start our in-house Marketing team. Having had previous experience in copywriting, PR, social media and event management for quite corporate companies; I found myself wanting a change in environment with more creative control. After hearing about Distinct’s journey and the job itself, it seemed like the perfect fit.
Distinct have ambitious plans for the future of which Marketing will play a key part. We welcomed our first digital marketing hire in 2021 and I’m confident that the team will only get bigger as we continue to push ourselves in new markets.
I've recently joined Distinct as their first Digital Marketing Assistant. In this role, I'll mainly be looking after social media and content creation.
Having already achieved a 1st Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University, I'm also on the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship programme to help further broaden my skillset.
