After a decade in hospitality and events, Andy returned to education and graduated with a First Class BA in Business Administration from Leeds Beckett University. He deliberately chose a broad business discipline to build commercial foundations for a long-term career.
Seeking a role that combined people skills with commercial thinking, Andy moved into recruitment in 2016, joining a Senior Finance team and specialising in tax. Starting at associate level meant a steep learning curve – mastering both recruitment and a technical market – but over ten years he has consistently delivered results for clients and candidates alike.
Today, Andy combines deep tax market knowledge with an extensive network, connecting professionals at all levels with the right opportunities across the UK.
Andy takes a consultative, relationship-first approach. He’s focused on doing the right thing over chasing quick wins, aiming to be a trusted advisor to candidates throughout their careers. He takes time to understand people’s goals, priorities, and lives beyond work – helping them explore options they may not have previously considered.
For clients, this approach translates into hires who fit technically, culturally, and commercially. By understanding team dynamics, pressures, and long-term plans, Andy ensures placements stick and deliver value, while often spotting opportunities that others may overlook. He works across the tax market at all levels, often partnering with clients he first met as candidates – bringing continuity and insight to every relationship.
Andy is passionate about helping businesses achieve their objectives through effective, well-structured hiring. Specialising in both contingent recruitment and retained assignments, he partners closely with finance leaders to understand the commercial drivers behind each hire and how new roles fit into the wider team and business strategy.
That commitment is reflected in his hands-on, advisory approach. A recent example includes being introduced to a newly appointed in-house Tax Director by a Partner from a Big 4 firm and supporting them to build out an entire tax function from scratch. Andy advised on salary benchmarking, shaped job descriptions and supported the full recruitment process end to end. He prides himself on helping clients build teams with the right capability, structure and long-term fit.
Outside of work, Andy keeps busy with his partner Charlotte, their son Edwin (8) and their two labradors, Rudy and Peggy. Life largely revolves around family time, walking the dogs and taking Edwin to football and cricket.
A committed Leeds United supporter and England cricket fan, Andy also enjoys playing golf, padel and darts. With a previous life as a DJ and club promoter, he still has a strong love of live music and regularly heads to gigs and festivals when the opportunity arises.
