Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Drama with Performing Arts from Middlesex University, Becky began her career immediately after graduation. Two years later, during a redundancy process, while registered and actively working with a recruitment agency, she had a lightbulb moment and realised her genuine interest in the recruiter’s job.
Becky’s innate passion for people and natural aptitude for communication make her perfectly suited to HR talent sourcing, an area she has specialised in for the majority of her 13-year career in recruitment. Leveraging her strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, she has cultivated a dedicated network of clients and candidates throughout the Midlands market. Further, Becky holds a pivotal position on our leadership team as the UK Talent & People Director, playing an invaluable role in Distinct’s ongoing success.
Becky prioritises establishing a foundation of trust with her clients and candidates, fostering an environment of honesty and transparency. Acknowledging the sometimes unpredictable nature of recruitment, she proactively anticipates challenges and manages expectations – striving to “do the right thing”.
As a committed advocate for both candidate and client, Becky’s primary goal is to place great people in fantastic jobs. She describes her approach to recruitment as akin to matchmaking, taking pride in her ability to understand and meet the unique needs and aspirations of each party involved.
Believing in the joy and impact of personal connection in recruitment, Becky prioritises listening and understanding each individual’s needs. For HR candidates, this means empowering them to pursue their dream job with confidence, ensuring their skills and personality align with the right client and culture.
Becky feels privileged to have played a pivotal role in the lives of numerous HR professionals. Early in her journey, she trusted her instincts and facilitated a meeting between a client and candidate, despite the candidate lacking the desired experience. The candidate landed the job, beginning a successful, fulfilling career. 13 years later, they have progressed to a senior HR practitioner, a journey in which Becky has provided ongoing recruitment support.
Outside of work, Becky’s number one priority is her family; her partner, Ian and their young daughter. Before becoming a parent, she spent her time enjoying exercise, drinking wine and travelling on holidays. Understandably, times have now changed somewhat, so you are most likely to find her in soft play, sipping a bucket of coffee.
