First attracted by the sociable, people-focused nature of recruitment, Chris began his career with a placement at Distinct while studying. He started in the office support division, later transitioning to the procurement & supply chain team, which he officially joined after completing his BA Hons in Sociology with Criminology from Loughborough University.
Since then, Chris has consistently proven himself a valued consultant, inspired by his candidates’ problem-solving abilities. He appreciates the variety in his work and enjoys partnering with both clients and candidates in the procurement & supply chain industry to find the perfect fit across the Midlands.
Chris believes in a straightforward approach centred on communication and honesty. He is dedicated to keeping candidates and clients informed and providing clarity throughout the entire process.
From the very first call, Chris aims to deeply understand why a candidate is considering a move, what’s most important to them and how he can make their job search as smooth as possible. His genuine desire to understand and assist means he takes extra care when working with clients, delving into their company culture and existing team to deliver successful, long-term matches.
Chris’ thorough, process-driven service ensures he leaves no stone unturned in finding the best-fit talent for his clients and fully preparing his candidates for their interviews. This dedication is best exemplified by his achievement of placing five senior procurement professionals for a single client within six months. One position was originally intended for one hire, but the client couldn’t decide between two fantastic candidates Chris put forward, so they hired both.
Chris embraces challenges and often goes above and beyond for clients, embodying Distinct’s core value, “to dare is to do,” to successfully fulfil niche roles like Mandarin-speaking Category Manager. He adds value by leveraging his industry knowledge and market insights, empowering clients to make informed hiring decisions and where appropriate, negotiations.
Outside the office, Chris is a dedicated Derby County season ticket holder, regularly attending home games and travelling across the country for away matches. In the office, he’s often heard discussing the latest game and league movements. Chris also enjoys travelling abroad, particularly for holidays in sunnier climates.
