Curtis began his career as a professional footballer, becoming the youngest player to appear in an FA Cup final at just 17. As he transitioned to his next career chapter, Curtis was drawn to recruitment by its parallels with team camaraderie and the opportunity to help others find their ideal career moves.
After connecting with Distinct’s US Director, Arran Jaiswal, Curtis knew that joining Distinct was the right move. Since then, he has excelled, earning Distinct’s prestigious “Rookie of the Year” award.
His resilience, honed from his football career, has enabled him to thrive at Distinct and expand its presence into new markets. Today, Curtis works with our accountancy practice team, specialising in audit recruitment across Greater London.
Curtis’ recruitment style is defined by straightforward communication, ensuring the best long-term interests of both clients and candidates. He excels at understanding what people are looking for and setting realistic expectations, then working towards finding the perfect accountancy practice hire or position. By collaborating with clients and candidates across the city, he helps finance professionals find excellent roles within firms with exciting cultures and growth plans.
Understanding the challenges of searching for a new role or hire, Curtis prioritises follow-through, consistently doing what he says he will. This approach removes uncertainties, keeping audit firms and candidates informed and supported throughout the entire process.
For Curtis, the best part of his job is working with candidates to find their perfect fit for their next audit career move. He gets to know the firms inside out, expertly matching candidates with the right opportunities and advocating for better flexibility, pay, benefits, culture, or career progression on their behalf.
One of Curtis’ most fulfilling placements to date was for an audit candidate deeply invested in an opportunity he was supporting. After guiding them throughout the recruitment process, the candidate secured the role and was so happy that they cried when Curtis delivered the news.
Curtis masterfully balances a busy schedule outside the office. When he’s not training or playing for Mickleover FC, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three young children.
