Finance Business Partner | FP&A & Commercial Finance | ACCA Qualified
There’s a version of FP&A that’s purely retrospective — variance analysis, month-end packs, rinse and repeat. And then there’s the kind that genuinely shapes how a business makes decisions. This candidate firmly operates in the latter camp.
A fully qualified ACCA with a first class degree in Accounting and Finance, they’ve built their career across both technical group accounting and commercial business partnering — giving them a grounding that many pure FP&A professionals don’t have. They understand the numbers at a group consolidation level, which makes them a sharper and more credible partner when they’re sitting across the table from operational leaders.
The bulk of their career has been spent within a PE-backed, multi-entity technology business, where they’ve progressed from Group Financial Accountant to Finance Business Partner — partnering at SMT and EMT level across Operations, Product, Technology and Go-to-Market functions. They own the full planning cycle: annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, five-year strategic plans, and the commercial modelling that sits behind investment decisions.
What makes them stand out is the tangible commercial impact. They built departmental reporting frameworks from scratch, giving senior leadership their first reliable visibility of cost performance across multiple functions. They identified and challenged excessive spend, improving budget discipline across teams. They’ve led headcount planning, ROI modelling, unit economics and cost-to-serve analysis — the kind of work that moves conversations from reporting what happened to influencing what happens next.
On the technical side, they bring solid group accounting credentials: multi-currency consolidations across five currencies, IFRS16, covenant reporting, capitalised development analysis and overseas expansion support including Romania. They’re also genuinely strong on systems — experienced across NetSuite, Prophix, Power BI and advanced Excel including VBA and Power Query.
Where they add value: For a PE-backed business that needs a business partner who combines commercial sharpness with technical credibility, this candidate is well-suited to environments where finance is expected to be genuinely embedded in operational decision-making — not just reporting on it.
