Why should you read this advert? There’s probably loads more with this exact title on LinkedIn, the different job boards etc.
Read it if:
- You want to improve your work life balance
- You don’t feel your progression prospects are being taken seriously.
Lots of accountancy firms will talk about work life balance. To some, a good work life balance means you have Sundays off. Some it’s the whole weekend. For the good ones it’s something like the below.
- If you were to work for this firm in Weybridge, you’d open your laptop at between 8am and 9am then shut it again for the day at between 4:30pm and 5:30pm depending on when you started.
So, if you live within 30 mins of Weybridge, you could set off at 7:30am, be in work with a coffee at 8am and be back home ready for a chilled evening, Netflix or the gym as early as 5pm. Not worrying about opening up your laptop. Not worrying about lots of late calls. Fridays a few go to the pub, some head straight home, no pressure either way. A quick drink in the pub does help with traffic though if you needed any encouragement.
But what about busy season? Well, in those periods, you’ll be given the time back as annual leave.
Career progression? Again, lots is always plastered on careers sites, but what does it mean?
For this firm, it means progression centred around you. One person who qualified recently is red hot technically and wants to manage and advise from a technical standpoint. Another is a huge people person, they want to focus on the softer management side. Both are having roles built and designed around this. What would your goal be?
