This is a hands-on role supporting a manufacturing business that needs immediate capability across core spend areas.
There’s a mix of BAU and project activity — supplier cost pressure, contract gaps, and a need for tighter control across the supply base.
They need someone who can step in and just get on with it.
What you’ll be doing
- Own day-to-day category buying across key direct or indirect spend
- Run sourcing activity end-to-end — RFQs, negotiations, supplier selection
- Stabilise supplier performance and manage cost pressures
- Support ongoing projects across operations, engineering or supply chain
- Bring structure to spend, contracts and supplier visibility
What they’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Category Buyer in a manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working across direct materials, engineering or indirects
- Able to operate at pace with minimal handholding
- Commercially sharp — understands cost drivers, negotiation levers and supplier dynamics
- Confident dealing with stakeholders across operations, production and finance
