2022 Recap: Celebrating our UK & USA Milestones

Here at Distinct, we’re pleased to announce that in 2022, we achieved a 45% increase in sales whilst also increasing our headcount by 25% – reaffirming our position as a leading Midlands-based recruitment agency.

It’s been a busy year, with a number of highlights as we say farewell to 2022. Read on for our full recap.

Growth for Nottingham, Milton Keynes and North America

Following the launch of our US recruitment teams in 2021, a third of our 2022 revenue was attributed to the new division which has quickly become a key part of our business. From five staff to 14 now working in the North American team, we have plans to further grow the overall business headcount in 2023.

In July, we celebrated further expansion into Milton Keynes with the opening of a larger office  – whilst key hires for the Nottingham office include Talent Acquisition Director, Ben Love, Internal Talent Acquisition Partner, Jo Sanderson and a newly appointed Marketing Director, Amy Robinson, who is set to join us in January.

The Desk Ready training programme

2022 also saw the continued success of our training scheme – the Desk Ready programme, created with the goal to help bridge the recruitment skills gap.

Open to anyone in the early stages of their career with a passion for the sector, the programme has onboarded 15 individuals to date across both our UK and US teams, with plans to take on more trainees in 2023.

CSR: Sustainability and our charity partnership

Our CSR initiatives became a key highlight this year, with the introduction of our office Sustainability Team. With the long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral, we set about making many changes to help offset our environmental impact – such as the launch of our new and sustainable candidate gifts, which include a custom steel water bottle and a tree planted for every permanent placement made.

As the year drew to a close, we dedicated our focus towards giving back, partnering with Nottingham-based charity Operation Orphan and their Forget-Me-Notts project – which works with vulnerable children to significantly improve their living conditions. To support their work, we donated £10,000 alongside a pledge to match any further donations made by staff up to this amount. During the winter season, we also donated £5,000 to local Nottingham and Milton Keynes children’s charities.

Our Distinct CEO, James Calder, commented on the success of the year:

“Our team should be incredibly proud of what has been achieved during 2022 and it’s a true testament to their hard work. It’s been an exciting time and we’re continuing to look forward and grow as a business – with plans to significantly expand both our UK & US offering in the New Year.

Our staff are still at the forefront of what we do, and we look forward to welcoming more trainees to the team whilst continuing to offer further benefits to help our staff with cost-of-living challenges, having introduced private healthcare during the year.

Our aim for the new year is not to lose focus and continue to invest as we look to expand into new locations and continue to evolve in the way we work.”

We would like to thank all of our clients and candidates who have worked with us in 2022. To find out more about how we can support you with your recruitment needs, contact us today to get started.
