About us

We're not your typical staffing agency. Distinct originated in the UK in 2016, introducing its people-first approach to talent acquisition to the East Coast in 2021.

Established from a desire to create a truly great place to work, our international team of 50+ is divided across the USA and UK, with offices in Boston, London and Nottingham. We firmly believe that people make the difference and have grown our business by striving to do the right thing for our employees and our customers. Today, our dedicated USA divisions specialize in public accounting and legal sectors.

Team growth

From five to over 50 employees, our internal teams collaborate with 16 dedicated recruiters to serve clients across North America.

Enhanced offices

Starting with satellite offices in New York and Boston, in 2024, we opened our new Boston office to better serve our USA clientele.

Extensive support

We have grown our back office from just our CEO doing the accounts to three internal teams across finance, marketing and HR.

Client partnerships

We’ve partnered with over 900 businesses, ranging from large multinational firms to smaller local businesses.

Job placements

We’ve successfully placed over 4,000 candidates, spanning permanent, contract and contract-to-hire roles

Challenges, investment and international growth

Our journey hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. Like many businesses, we were confronted with unprecedented challenges, including the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent economic crisis. Proudly, we supported our team through these tough times. As opportunities arose, we resumed investing, fostering business growth and securing jobs for our team.

The surge in remote work enabled us to broaden our candidate network, representing talent across North America, catering to remote, hybrid and on-site opportunities.

Following our US expansion in 2021, we made it our mission to become carbon neutral. We’re fortunate to have sustainability ambassadors in our team who continue to drive everyday change, including some of our proudest achievements.
  • We plant a tree for every permanent placement to reduce carbon in our atmosphere
  • Our local suppliers range across organic, Fairtrade and zero-waste businesses
  • We are carbon-neutral certified.

We successfully offset 120% of our emissions and removed 2.5k items of plastic from the ocean in 2022. In addition to this, we have officially started our journey to become B Corp certified.
