With a bachelor’s in Geography and a Master’s in Business Management from Loughborough University, Arran started his recruitment career as part of a graduate program. Over the past two decades, he has orchestrated long-term, transformative placements in Public Accounting.
Around eight years ago, Arran and his co-founders established Distinct with a simple philosophy – to create a workplace where people enjoy coming to work. Originating in the UK, Distinct’s people-centric focus ensures the delivery of the best possible 360 service to both candidates and clients.
Arran has played a pivotal role in driving Distinct’s expansion into North America and its continued growth. Balancing his time between the UK and the USA, with a base in Boston, Arran specializes in connecting accounting & tax experts with opportunities in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Working within finance and accounting and acknowledging the industry’s historical diversity challenges, Arran is an advocate for positive change. He is passionate about supporting CPA firms to build diverse, effective workforces. A mission further underscored by new research from McKinsey revealing that diversity in leadership drives a 39% increase in profitability. Arran prides himself on staying active, recently rallying (cajoling) colleagues into a quarter-long fitness challenge to keep everyone moving through the winter months. An avid runner, he takes on a new challenge each year. Last January, he ran over 500km to raise funds for LOROS Hospice. This year, never one to be outdone, he’s running 55 half marathons in 55 days in support of Ashgate Hospice – a cause very close to his family’s heart.
Outside of running, Arran stays just as busy playing taxi driver to his wife and two wonderful children. A loyal supporter of Chesterfield FC, he rarely misses a match. And while he’s been to a few baseball games, he’s still trying to figure out the rules – so if any clients fancy explaining the sport over a game, he’d be all ears!
