Imogen’s journey in recruitment began during her A-Levels (the equivalent to 11th/12th grade in the USA), where work experience evolved into a permanent role, opting for hands-on experience over university. She then moved to a small local business, transitioning from administration to finance and payroll. However the collaborative environment and camaraderie of recruitment drew her back. Prioritizing company values and a well-defined career trajectory, Imogen recognized the potential for growth at Distinct, joining their finance market back in 2017.
Now integral to the public accounting team’s ongoing success and continued North American expansion, Imogen, specializing in connecting CPA professionals in Illinois, is set to embark on a new chapter. Alongside colleague Rebecca Sherman, she will lead Distinct’s Boston office, marking the next exciting phase of her career.
Imogen is renowned for her instinctive recruitment approach, prioritizing a deep understanding of candidates’ motivations and long-term firm objectives. She actively secures multiple interviews, providing candidates with industry insights and choices. Emphasizing support and guidance, Imogen fosters collaboration through active listening and transparent communication.
Her hands-on impact is evident in transformative career placements, such as propelling a recent finance graduate, working a part-time hospitality job to kick start their financial career. In a fiercely competitive scenario, Imogen met the candidate, advocated for them with a firm she knew would be an excellent fit, created an introduction video to enhance his visibility and ultimately secured his first career role.
Imogen is a true advocate for success, measuring it through the accomplishments of her candidates, clients and team. Her steadfast commitment to champion others and herself has resulted in significant milestones in both professional and personal realms. A notable highlight in her career involves securing a substantial placement at Hebrew Senior Life in the US. This achievement stemmed from her proactive approach during a business trip to Boston, where she pressed for an in-person meeting. Managing the entire recruitment process and utilizing innovative video technology, Imogen not only showcased her skills but also secured the perfect fit for the business.
Further, Imogen extends her support by mentoring junior team members, offering essential guidance, training and encouragement for achievements and personal milestones including home ownership and life-changing trips.
Beyond work, Imogen is passionate about dance and has been immersed in ballroom and Latin dancing since the age of 4, even sharing her expertise by teaching dance. As a fitness enthusiast, her love for movement extends to activities like hiking, pilates and barre. Embracing the joy of food and importance of adult friendships, she often enjoys meals with friends. Imogen has even brought the rhythm of dance to the office through well-received dance classes.
