This is an opportunity to join one of one of the most innovative data driven marketing and advertising firms in New York. They are a media planning and buying agency with a wide variety of clients covering an impressive range of well-known brands. This job would be perfect if you have a solid background in paid social media (Meta etc) with a thorough knowledge of advanced analytics and performance media.

This firm offers hybrid working with 3 days a week in the office and from Independence Day to Labor Day they have WFH Thursdays so you will only be in the office twice a week during the summer and unlimited PTO time.

Role overview

The Associate Director,  Social Strategy will be responsible for six key areas:

Relationship Development – 20%
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across the agency leveraging business knowledge to enhance partnerships.
  • Act as day-to-day resource for clients and junior team members, navigating challenges and prioritizing business goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on problem-solving, leading process improvements and larger team initiatives.
Social Media Strategy & Buying Oversight – 25%
  • Oversee RFPs, partner negotiations, and strategic plan development in collaboration with Digital & Business Solutions.
  • Lead team in developing POVs, media documents, and financial tracking tools, ensuring QA across deliverables.
  • Educate on industry best practices and emerging trends in paid social media.
Team Development & Management – 25%
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, setting clear growth goals and conducting performance reviews.
  • Drive team planning, task delegation, and participation in initiatives to foster professional development.
  • Support hiring processes and contribute to broader team objectives alongside senior leadership.
Campaign Management & Execution – 5%
  • Oversee campaign execution across all stages, ensuring platform accuracy, QA processes, and efficient optimization.
  • Act as escalation point for campaign issues, and ensure buy approvals and trafficking accuracy.
  • Maintain expert knowledge in internal and native platform tools for planning, reporting, and analysis.
Social Media Planning – 10%
  • Develop and present media plans, RFPs, and strategy documents grounded in insights and analytics.
  • Align planning efforts with broader media goals and maintain oversight of deliverables and timelines.
Reporting – 5%
  • Oversee campaign reporting, pacing, and data analysis, ensuring actionable recommendations are provided to clients.
  • Lead data aggregation processes with analytics teams and coach juniors on insight development.
  • Own learning agendas, identifying testing and optimization opportunities to drive campaign performance.
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have 5 + years previous paid social media experience with a strong understanding of marketing principles, analytics and concepts.

You will be experienced in buying ads on Facebook and Instagram and have exposure to advanced targeting/retargeting tactics in social. You will also be comfortable owning and managing budget/investment levels in social media and owning the full social strategy process inclusive of working with partners, clients and internal stakeholders.

Finally, you will be have strong experience navigating cross-department relationships with leadership and supervisory experience in terms of developing media professionals, including strategic and management skills.
