This is an opportunity to join one of one of the most innovative data driven marketing and advertising firms in New York. They are a media planning and buying agency with a wide variety of clients covering an impressive range of well-known brands. This job would be perfect if you have a solid background in paid social media (Meta etc) with a thorough knowledge of advanced analytics and performance media.

This firm offers hybrid working with 3 days a week in the office and from Independence Day to Labor Day they have WFH Thursdays so you will only be in the office twice a week during the summer and unlimited PTO time.

Role overview
The Director for Social will be responsible for six key areas:

Campaign Management & Execution – 5%
  • Lead RFP processes, including partner reviews, proposal analysis, and negotiations.
  • Oversee campaign execution from set-up to pacing and optimization, guiding junior team members.
  • Ensure QA, tagging accuracy, and campaign efficiency across accounts.
Social Media Strategy – 35%
  • Lead development of social media plans with cross-functional teams, integrating insights and trends.
  • Guide strategic documents (plans, POVs, decks), ensuring alignment with broader media objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends and tools, and support junior teams in planning and execution.
  • Act as escalation point for RFP reviews and key partner negotiations.
Reporting & Analysis – 5%
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to standardize data processes and dashboards.
  • Oversee testing methodologies and optimization strategies across campaigns.
  • Support junior team insights development and provide strategic reporting oversight.
Relationship Management – 20%
  • Foster strong internal and external relationships to drive project alignment and delivery.
  • Act as social lead for client communications, ensuring strategic alignment and project prioritization.
  • Provide support to junior team on stakeholder interactions and issue resolution.
Team Management, Supervision & Delegation – 30%
  • Create and support development plans and performance goals for junior team members.
  • Coach on media best practices and participate in hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Assign level-appropriate projects and promote engagement across the agency
Agency Stewardship – 5%
  • Promote a strong team culture aligned with the values and business ethos.
  • Share thought leadership on industry trends with clients and internal teams.
  • Oversee financial tracking of partner investments within the agency framework.
About you
You will have 6-7+ years of experience developing strategic media recommendations and stewarding social media account projects, acting as a client contact and comfortable owning and managing budget/investment levels in social media across multiple accounts.

You will have a deep understanding of advanced analytics and performance media? and a strong familiarity?with marketing principles, analytics and concepts so you will also be exceptionally skilled in Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to discuss how those functions can or should be applied relative to the social media planning process.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in negotiating and constructing social media plans, with understanding of planning, buying and activation on Facebook and Instagram and possibly other platforms too.

You will have exposure to advanced targeting/retargeting tactics in social, using both 1st and 3rd party data and owning the full social strategy process inclusive of working with partners, clients and internal stakeholders.

Finally, you will demonstrate experience navigating cross-department relationships with strong leadership and supervisory experience in terms of developing media professionals, including strategic and management skills.
