Audit Manager – Employee Benefit Plans & Labor Unions
Westminster, CO | Hybrid (after onboarding)
$65,000 – $85,000
Flexible hours | Collaborative, close-knit team
“Big impact, small firm, real balance.”
If you’ve ever thought your best work happens in smaller teams where people know your name, your clients trust your judgment, and the partners actually listen, this might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
You’ll join a respected, long-standing firm with a specialty in labor unions and employee benefit plan audits. It’s meaningful work, handled by a small, experienced group who care deeply about the clients they serve and the people they work alongside.
No endless hierarchy. No corporate theatre. Just high-quality audits done by professionals who value accuracy, trust, and balance in equal measure.
Why make the move
You’ll gain deep exposure to benefit plan and union audits that are both technically interesting and rewarding in purpose.
You’ll be surrounded by experienced auditors who know their craft and are happy to share it.
You’ll have flexibility with some time on-site and some from home once you’re settled in.
You’ll be part of a team that values people over process and results over appearances.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll manage audits from planning through completion, oversee staff, review work, and ensure clients get the kind of service that makes them stay for decades.
You’ll prepare filings like 990s, 5500s, and DOL LMs while working closely with union leadership and benefit administrators.
You’ll travel occasionally, but not excessively, just enough to keep the work varied and relationships strong.
Who this would suit
A CPA or someone actively working toward licensure who enjoys taking ownership of projects.
Someone who thrives in smaller, collaborative environments where ideas are heard and appreciated.
Someone who wants stability, flexibility, and the chance to make a visible impact without the noise of a giant firm.
The culture
Think steady, professional, and human. The partners are approachable, the expectations are clear, and the environment is relaxed but responsible. People here genuinely enjoy the work and the balance that comes with it.
Not ready with a resume? Or want to learn a bit more before applying? That’s fine.
Apply the old-fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I’ll happily talk you through the firm, the team, and where this role could take you before you make any commitments.
I’m Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don’t just look at job specs; I look at people, and where they’ll thrive. It’s not about filling gaps. It’s about finding a fit that lasts.
Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don’t slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
