Director of Finance
New Haven, CT
$150,000 to $170,000k
The chance to build a finance function instead of inheriting someone else’s. Direct access to senior leadership. A well funded real estate business with ambitious growth plans. If you’ve reached the point where fixing problems is more exciting than maintaining the status quo, keep reading.
This Director of Finance role is about far more than producing reports.
You’ll oversee the day to day finance operation across a growing commercial and multi family real estate portfolio, taking ownership of treasury, cash flow, budgets, forecasting, reporting, transaction administration and property accounting. You’ll also help build the processes, systems and infrastructure that will support the next stage of growth.
You’ll work alongside the CEO, bookkeeper and an external Controller, becoming the driving force behind finance operations while ensuring compliance with GAAP and supporting IFRS reporting for an international parent company. You’ll supervise the IT function, improve reporting, monitor budgets against actuals and play a key role in acquisitions, financing and operational decision making.
We’re looking for someone with a BS in Accounting or CPA, although public accounting experience is more important than the letters after your name.
You’ll have an Audit Manager background or similar, at least 6 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP reporting skills and hands on commercial or multi family real estate experience. This would be a great position for someone in public accounting audit, looking to transition into industry. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes and bringing fresh ideas to the table rather than simply following the way things have always been done.
The business is growing. The infrastructure is still catching up with the ambition, which means your work will have a visible impact from day 1. As the business expands, so will your team and your career.
The role is based in New Haven, CT and is primarily office based, with occasional flexibility to work from home.
Here’s the part most people get wrong: you don’t need to tick every box to introduce yourself. The apply button is not legally binding. Worst case? We chat, decide the timing isn’t right, and you carry on. Best case? You bag yourself a fantastic new position.
Prefer the human touch? Splendid. Ring me up. I’m at 646-540-9666. Sometimes Indeed hides my number. If they’re sneaky like that, you’ll find my details on LinkedIn. I’m Georgina Ross at Distinct North America. Also, I get it can be hard to talk with the fear of your Managing Partner walking past your office. I’m around early (6am EST) and after-hours too.
