This is one of those firms where people actually like each other.
Where “we work as a team” isn’t just a buzzword.
And where the goal isn’t to grind your life away for a title.
The managing partner started this firm after a stint in the Big Four and built it with intention. Low ego. High trust. A genuine commitment to balance. The team is small by design, but the client list is impressive. Small business owners and high net worth individuals across 38 states and 6 countries. And the phone doesn’t stop ringing. They are not trying to become a 50 person powerhouse. The goal is a tight knit group of six accountants. Enough to serve clients well without losing the human touch.
Now they are hiring a number two. Someone who can step in and help manage the client load, support the junior team, and take review work off the owner’s plate. You won’t be doing this alone. You’ll have a team of capable interns, an experienced staff member getting her CPA, and a founder who wants to build something with you, not above you.
Here’s what you’re walking into as a Tax Manager:
Clients include small businesses averaging $1m-$3m in revenue, high net worth individuals. They do all tax. No audits. A little bookkeeping, but no financial statements.
They use Intuit ProSeries and are testing out automation tools. No outsourcing though. Busy season looks like 55 to 60 hours across 6 days. No Sundays. Saturdays start in March and they aren’t heavy or late nights. The rest of the year is 40 hours or less.
Culture wise, think laid back but accountable. No mandatory fun. Just decent people doing good work, getting along and going home proud. They sponsor a little league team and even rented a New England Revolution suite last year, but no one is forcing trivia night if that’s not what people want.
What they are looking for:
You do not need to be a licensed CPA, but you should be close or working on it. You are probably a strong senior/ supervisor or someone lightly in a Manager role already. You want to grow, but not by sacrificing your life or values. You want a place where your input matters. Where you can help shape the firm, mentor interns, build relationships, and actually see your career move forward.
Pay and perks include:
$115 to $135k base plus bonus
20 days PTO, unlimited sick time, paid holidays
Health, dental, disability, and life insurance
401k with a 4% match
Tuition reimbursement or student loan repayment
Wellness credits, HSA contributions, and CPE support
Paid family leave and wellness workshops
This is not public accounting as usual. It is a place to grow, stay human, and build something that works for you and your future. This is work to live, not live to work.
