Tax Manager
This isn’t “more of the same.” It’s a seat at the table for someone who can turn technical judgment into client confidence — and teach others to do the same.
What you’ll do
-
Lead complex compliance across 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, 1041, 709
-
Research new regs; draft crisp technical memorandums that non-tax people actually understand
-
Set review standards; ensure workpapers/returns meet firm methodology every time
-
Spot issues early, resolve them proactively, and brief leadership before they become fires
-
Interface with IRS, state and local authorities; coordinate audit responses and information requests
-
Coach Seniors/Staff; raise the bar on documentation, planning, and client communication
-
Use MS Office Suite and online research tools effectively; drive adoption of better workflows
Why this stands out
-
Real influence: your research and memos shape firm positions and client strategy
-
Clear line of sight to senior leadership for someone who wants it (and earns it)
-
Culture that values initiative, accountability, and steady client contact year-round
-
Partners who back you on quality — not just charge hours
-
Transparent expectations: normal overtime through the year; heavy Jan 15–Apr 15
What you’ll need
-
CPA (required)
-
~8+ years in public accounting with proven review and supervisory experience
-
Strong judgment, clean writing, and the ability to translate tax into business decisions
-
Organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable prioritising when everything is “urgent”
Ideal for a manager who wants to run higher-stakes work, mentor a team, and be measured by outcomes, not theatrics.
