A tight-knit CPA firm in Cranford, NJ is looking for an experienced CPA to step in as the owner’s right-hand person. This isn’t a stepping-stone role to partner, it’s a hands-on, high-trust position in a small, friendly firm where everyone pulls their weight and supports each other.
The person in this role will take the lead when new clients come in, figuring out what’s needed, passing tasks along to the bookkeeper, and overseeing the workflow. They’ll be reviewing tax returns, managing their own client portfolio, and handling the firm’s more complex clients, including doing the bookkeeping for those accounts.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of tax return experience, knows QuickBooks Online, and is comfortable juggling both bookkeeping and client management. They should be someone who can take initiative, is easy to work with, and thrives in a low-ego, team-first environment.
The firm uses ProSeries and primarily serves general industries. Everyone is expected to be in the office every day, but hours are super reasonable, 10am to 5pm. In the summer, the office closes at noon on Fridays. The atmosphere is laid-back most of the year, with a “just get your work done” mindset.
Salary ranges from $90K to $125K depending on experience, with performance-based bonuses paid out three times a year,June, October, and December.
