If you join this 100 person firm on Long Island, you’ll get the chance to work on a wide range of tax forms, for clients in a number of different industries. You’ll get the rounded experience you need to sit alongside your CPA or EA.
This firm do a good job of retaining their staff. They did lose a couple of people recently, to a competitor firm, but they both returned within a year. Always a good sign. You’ll have manageable hours, even at busy season. You’ll be looking at 50-55 for the majority and then a push to 60 in the last couple of weeks.
You won’t be stuck with one industry either. You’ll have clients across manufacturing, real estate, technology, construction and professional services.
You could have a long and successful career with this firm, or you could spend 3-4 years here and use it as a stepping stone into Private. The broad experience you’ll gain will help you make that move. There’s a good chance you’ll be tempted to stay though.
